Father's Day Message

Happy Father’s Day to all of the men in our reading audience who have had the pleasures and responsibilities of raising children.

Studies have shown that fathers also are tremendously important to a child’s emotional, academic and moral development.

Children who maintain close relationships with loving fathers do better in school and are more likely to stay off drugs.

And you don’t have to be a biological father. You can be a stepfather, grandfather and anyone who is a father figure for a child who needs him.

It is important to remind you, fathers, that your children learn a lot from you; the good and the bad.

Kindly ensure that you teach them right. Let your character protray your aspirations for your children.

Hide your weaknesses because you are supposed to be heroes. A hero is never weak.

Above all, love their mum and let them see it.

Having a caring father is one of life’s great joys.

Please call yours today to say you are thinking of him.

Happy Father's Day to you.

Rafael Nadal is currently ranked #1 in men’s singles tennis by the Association of Tennis Professionals. At 32 years old, he’s known as one of the greatest tennis players of all time.

In September 2016, Nadal was playing a doubles match alongside Simon Solbas. They went up against Carlos Moya and John McEnroe in Mallorca, Spain. During the match, the unexpected happened when a mother in the stands became visibly distraught.

Just as Nadal went to serve the ball, he heard some commotion coming from the crowd of 7,000 spectators. A woman stood next to a steward shouting “Clara!” with a sense of panic and urgency.

Nadal and his teammates realized the woman’s daughter had gone missing, and he stopped the game at once.

The following clip, which quickly went viral, shows the star athlete breaking out of his “zone” so a worried mother could find her child.

COUPLE DIES SAME DAY AFTER CELEBRATING THEIR 61ST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

A New Zealand couple had a love story we thought was only real in movies. After a marriage of 61 years, the couple died on the same day.

Both 86, Peter and Ruth Bedford both passed away on May 14, after being married for over 60-years. According to reports, the aged couple died within only nine-hours of each other.

Although it was sad to lose both her parents on one day, their daughter Caroline Bedford said it was “good they went together", adding they “would have been completely lost without each other."

According to Bedford, her father was admitted to the hospital on evening of Saturday, May 12 , but it was her mother who passed away first on Monday, May 14.

"I think Mum decided he wasn't coming back. She died at 10am, and I got a message to Dad. He followed her about nine hours later," she said.

Their love story started when Peter moved to Wellington in New Zealand. It was there where he met the woman he’d spend the rest of his life with.

Bedford described her father as a rural man and her mom as an intellectual woman, who later went on to become a law clerk.

Despite having their differences, the two enjoyed the simple things in life together, such as music and going to concerts.

"Mum had a philosophical, intellectual brain and she loved to debate. And Dad was a big thinker too.", she explained, adding her late parents loved animals and gardening.

According to reports, the couple was very loved in the Kaikohe community located in New Zealand, where they resided since 1980.

Prior to moving to the community, the family lived in the rural areas of Manawatu.

"They were very rural people. Well, Dad was. Mum liked the arts and socialising," she said, adding, "They were both fiercely independent. But very kind and helpful, especially in their community.”

The couple left behind their three children- Michael, Simon and Caroline, and two grandchildren.

"My Grandad didn't speak mullch, but when he spoke people listened.", said Bedford’s 31-year-old daughter, Cadence.

Jackie Chan’s teenage daughter left homeless and living under a bridge after family disowned her

Jackie Chan’s 18-year-old daughter has said that she’s been left homeless and living under a bridge with her partner because of her family’s homophobia.

Etta Ng, who is estranged from Chan, posted a video on YouTube with girlfriend Andi Autumn, which was scathing of her friends and family.

“We’ve been homeless for a month due to homophobic parents. We pretty much slept under a bridge, and other things,” she said.“We’ve gone to the police, we’ve gone to the hospitals, the food banks, the LGBTQ community shelters and all of them just don’t give a s**t.“We don’t know what to do at this point. We just want to let people know what’s going on because at this point it seems ridiculous that no one can help. I don’t understand.”

Autumn added:

“We will have to be split up if we go to any kind of government facility.”

Ng is the daughter Chan had with Elaine Ng Yi-Lei, a former Miss Asia, with whom Chan had an affair in 1998 while married to current wife, Joan Lin.

However, Ng’s mother has slammed the video.

She told Hong Kong website Coconuts:

“Etta has emotional problems. She was seeing a doctor last year, but she hasn’t gone to therapy since she left Hong Kong.”

Ng Yi-Lei also blames Autumn for the pair’s predicament.

“She’s already 30-something and is a teacher with working experience,” she said. “How can she tell an 18-year-old girl to film such a video? It’s wrong.

“I feel that if they have no money, they should go find work. They shouldn’t film a clip telling others they are broke and who Etta’s father is. People all over the world work hard and don’t rely on someone else’s fame to get money.

“Many people in Hong Kong get paid low wages, but they still go to work. If they don’t have work, then they’ll film these videos to complain about their parents? How many of these videos would we see in a day then?”

According to reports, Chan has never spoken publicly about his daughter, but has previously acknowledged having had an affair with Ng Yi-Lei.

Ng told the Daily Express in 2015 that Chan ‘never existed in my life’.

“He is not my dad. I have no feelings for him. He is my biological father but he is not in my life,” she said.

“I would not say that he is my dad. I would say, ‘Oh, Jackie Chan, an actor’. I will never regard him as a father.”

Ng came out on Instagram in October last year, later confirming that she was seeing Autumn, a social media influencer from Canada.
