TROPHY HUNTER PSG star Dani Alves becomes most successful player in football history as Coupe de La Ligue triumph is 36th trophy of his career

DANI ALVES has become the most successful footballer in history following Paris Saint-Germain's Coupe de la Ligue triumph over Monaco.

The Brazilian, 35, now has 36 trophies, overtaking compatriot Maxwell, who he had gone level with after winning the French Super Cup in August.


Alves started his career in 2001 with local side Bahia, winning the Copa do Nordeste in his second season.

A move to La Liga with Sevilla soon followed — but he didn't win anything for the first three years.

However, in 2006, they won their first Uefa Cup, which they retained a year later, having won the Uefa Super Cup in between.

In 2007, they added the Copa del Rey before beating Real Madrid to win the Spanish super cup.
