THE Lephalale Regional Court has sentenced Diederick Hermanus Jan (43) to life in prison for rape.
Police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe was a family friend who would regularly visit the victim's home until 15th July 2016.
It's reported that he took the victim who was less than 15-years-old at the time, to his place in Lephalale and raped her.
The SAPS Provincial Commissioner General Nneke Ledwaba welcomed the long jail sentence that was given to this rapist.
He also commended the Lephalale Family Violence and the Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit on the good job done.
Ledwaba added that removing criminals of this nature from society, through professional and dedicated investigative skills of the cops is commented.
