Manchester United will be looking to close the gap on rivals City when they take on Chelsea on Sunday.
With Pep Guardiola's men in Carabao Cup action, the Red Devils have the opportunity to cut City's lead to 13 points with victory against the Blues.
Jose Mourinho's men could find themselves in third spot by the time they face Chelsea if Liverpool beat West Ham on Saturday.
The Red Devils come into the game on the back of Wednesday night's goalless draw with Sevilla in Spain.
Paul Pogba was left out of the starting XI but replaced the injured Ander Herrera early on.
However, Pogba's omission from the side has fulled speculation he could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer.
Mourinho is expected to address those rumours when he speaks to the media on Friday afternoon.
The Manchester United midfielder started on the bench in the Champions League draw with Sevilla.
There have been reports of a bust-up in recent weeks and Pogba has raised his concerns with Mourinho.
But the Sun reports Mourinho made it clear in no uncertain terms that he is the boss and makes the big calls over his side.
Will he leave United this summer?
